The circular economy is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible.

The aim of such an economy is to address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, waste and pollution by emphasizing the implementation of three basic principles of the design-based model. The three principles necessary for the transition to a circular economy are: the elimination of waste and pollution, the circulation of products and materials, and the regeneration of nature.

In today's world, we are facing a huge problem of food waste. According to official data, in Slovenia we throw away 68 kg of food per capita. Since this food still has rich nutritional value and it is a shame to throw it away, we can use larvae to turn it into feed, treats for our furry pets, or even into rich fertilizer.
